Bude, North Cornwall

Bude sits on one of the most dramatic stretches of the North Cornish coast. Summerleaze Beach is a sheltered, south-facing cove perfect for cold water immersion with the Atlantic stretching to the horizon. The water quality here is consistently among the best in England.

The Bude chapter starts at 9am (slightly later to allow for the drive from surrounding areas). April sea temperatures in Bude are typically 10–12°C — warmer than many inland spots due to the Gulf Stream influence.

Getting there

Safety at Bude

The Atlantic can produce strong swells. We check the surf and tide forecast before every session. Red flag days mean no dipping. The chapter lead has open water safety training. Always dip with the group.
