Port Meadow is one of Oxford's great open spaces — an ancient common grazing ground running along the west bank of the Thames. The river here is wide, shallow in places and surprisingly accessible, with cattle grazing on the banks and punts passing overhead in summer.
The West Oxford chapter meets at the river bank on Sunday mornings. Sessions are social and low-key: get in, warm up, walk back across the meadow. A perfect antidote to the working week.

Park in Wolvercote and walk south across Port Meadow. The chapter meets at the river bank by the main swimming area. Approximately 15 minutes on foot.
The Thames at Port Meadow can be busy with river traffic. We dip in designated areas clear of navigation channels. The river can run fast after heavy rain — we check levels before every session. Always dip with the group.
No booking required. Just turn up at Port Meadow at 8am on any Sunday. Follow the path to the river bank.
